SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON TREEHOUSE MODEL Construction progression
Here you can see how the superstructure of the "tree" is done amost the exact same formation as the real tree was done. Rather than steel..........it's styrene!!
Thanks for sharing Mike! This is absolutely amazing and you are ridiculously talented! Looking forward to seeing the other projects you have done! When ya making Disneyland? hehe :)
Thanks Mr. Daps! I am working on two other commissions right now--I'll post some pictures of those two later, then I have another project for WDI coming up-although I do not know what the subject is.....it my be for DCA again, although they were not sure. As for Disneyland.......I am in discussions for a CASA MEXICANA complex circa 1966, CAPTAIN HOOK'S RESTARAUNT WITH SKULL ROCK GROTTO and a mid 60's ALICE IN WONDERLAND. I'll post some progress pictures of thos as they come along. I'll also be featuring some of my portfollio entries.
Hey Mike!! It's me, Lannie. So glad I found you ~ it's been years!
I was surfing through my favorite blogs this morning and got lucky enough to stumble onto your site. Looks great! You always did have a great talent for making models. I will be adding you to my favorites list.
I hope you're well and happy. Again, so great to see you! :) Lannie
Kevin: Thanks! As a respected designer your compliments are quite an honor! Welcome aboard!
Lannie! My God it's been years!! Where are you?? I'm in San Diego often (family, friends.still do models for The San Diego Historical Society and some set design for the San Diego Automotive museum) You come to Disneyland often??
Hey Mike! Yes, still in San Diego. We have AP's and I've been to the park at least twice a month for the last couple of years. I even went to the D23 convention back in Sept.
Are you in OC? I'd love to catch up with you sometime!
I grew up in San Diego in the 70's around people -like my parents who were working for General Dynamics, Ryan Aeronautical etc.....they all had neat modern houses and had dinner and cocktail parties---shopping Centers and restaurants then were like being in Tomorrowland-----we went to Disneyland, Santa's Village and Knott's Berry Farm and all these places had an impression on me! I was fascinated by drawing and model making---when I was 5 I was making clay copies of a preview model for Walt Disney World of what became Big Thunder Mountain..whenever we went somewhere I would come home and make paper, wood and clay models of a building or something--went to San Diego State and studied Environmental Design. Worked for Disney Company for 13 continuous years. Currently a model maker and designer .
